How it works

Days = 26 × (months worked ÷ 12) × (weekly hours ÷ full-time hours)

The Italian collective agreement for domestic work gives 26 working days of paid holiday a year, accrued monthly and pro-rated by hours for part-time staff. A month worked for fifteen days or more counts as a whole month. Full-time here means 40 hours a week for live-out staff and 54 for live-in, so set that field to match the contract — using 40 for a live-in worker overstates the entitlement by a third.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the 26 days come from?

The CCNL for domestic work sets 26 working days of paid annual leave, counted on a six-day week. It is not 26 calendar days.

How is a partial month treated?

Fifteen days or more of work in a month counts as a full month of accrual; fewer than fifteen counts as nothing. This calculator takes whole months, so round before entering.

What full-time figure applies?

40 hours a week for live-out workers, 54 for live-in. Using the wrong one changes the answer substantially, which is why it is a field rather than a constant.

Is this legal advice?
